For rounds 3 and 4 of the hotly contended 2012 BRSCC’s Euro Saloon Championship, the Japspeed sponsored Chesterfield based team “VF-Racing” and their Subaru Impreza headed to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
Following a problem during the opening rounds of the championship, Cadwell would be the place to put the car through its paces following the rebuild by specialists “Scoobyclinic”.
With an early morning qualifying session and with a clear track ahead, driver Vaughan Fletcher pushed hard and fast, with a 2nd place on the grid as his reward.
However, a troublesome electrical fault caused the team to miss race 1, much to the disappointment of everyone involved. Not ones to give up, the team worked tirelessly to identify and fix the fault just in time for race 2. Starting from the back of the 18 car grid left Fletcher with it all to do. A daunting prospect, but a challenge that was met head on.
Following the customary rolling start, the race was underway and everyone cleared the first corner without incident. Already scorching through the grid, the rapid Impreza fired passed 6 cars before the end of the first lap. As the race unfolded, fellow racers were picked off until Vaughan had made the incredible move from 18th to 2nd overall, beating off stiff competition. Only the chequered flag denied him a challenge on 1st overall.
We will next be out at Brands Hatch over the weekend of 9th/10th June for rounds 5 and 6 of the championship.
