On the last weekend of July, driver Vaughan Fletcher and his ‘ScoobyClinic’ prepared Subaru Impreza made the 200 mile journey from their Derbyshire home to the circuit of Pembrey in South Wales, for rounds 7 and 8 of the BARC’s “Classic Thunder” Championship.
Going into the event, Fletcher was comfortably 1st in class and 3rd overall in the championship, although not one for resting on his laurels, Vaughan’s aim was to gain maximum points from the two races in order to increase his lead, and climb the overall leader board in the process.
Qualifying produced an excellent 3rd place on the grid, putting the Subaru directly amongst the quickest cars in the series. Both races produced close racing for Vaughan who had to defend hard to hold position, whilst not loosing ground on the competitors ahead. A class win and a 2nd in class were the end results, with 5th place overall in both races.
An excellent weekends racing producing hard fought results in both rounds. Points awarded from the weekend means that Vaughan has extended his class lead, and has moved to a fantastic 2nd place overall in the championship. Our next race will see race for the first time at Thruxton over the weekend of 13th & 14th of August.
